The top of the tree

So how far back have I been able to go & who is at the top of the Gunnee tree?

The earliest confirmed record I have is the christening of William Gunnee in Cottingham, Yorkshire on 3 Jan 1781. The record identifies the parents of William as William and Hannah Gunnee.

So William - husband of Hannah and father of William is the earliest Gunnee I have found. Without (yet) a birth marriage or death for this William I would have to guess that he was born between 1740 and 1765. This assumes that he was at the oldest 60 when his youngest child was born in 1800 and at the youngest 16 when his first son was born 1780/1781.

One of the biggest missing pieces of the Gunnee jigsaw is more infomation about William.
